Black Creek looking South from Fairley Bridge

Black Creek looking south from Fairley Bridge Landing Why it's called Black Creek
Actually, the reason it looks so dark is that the Black Creek Wildenrness still retains the "Old Growth" climax forest that is mostly hardwoods that shed their leaves every fall. The leaves contain a lot of tannin, and the rain washes that into the stream.

Because of all of the rain this spring and summer, in October 2003 all of the familiar sandbars/beaches at Fairley Bridge Landing have moved southward. It was getting too close to football time (and the skeeters were getting us) so we didn't wander down the trail to find them.
